Trip To Arches

In early March we took our little family on a small vacation to Arches National Park. We surprised the kids one Saturday morning by getting them out of bed, putting them in the car and away we went. They had no idea, which added to the fun of it all. :-)

We spent two days hiking, exploring and just had a fun time together.

In the middle photo Madeline and Kate are attempting to balance like balance rock. In the right-hand photo, Abigail is fascinated by a tree that is actually smaller than her.

The left-hand photo is of elephant rock and cute little Abigail experiencing the easy life. In the middle photo we are sitting inside Double Arch. This was one of the girl's favorite arches. They loved climbing the red rock. The right-hand photo is of the North and South Windows and some very cute kids, I might add.

Abigail loved when we let her out of the carrier to explore. She was like a force unleashed! Madeline and Kate loved looking for the rock cairns on our hike to see Delicate Arch. They even created a few of their own (Don't worry Ed and I made sure they didn't guide future hikers off the cliff!)

The left-hand photo is of our favorite arch, Sand Dune Arch. It was like entering a whole different world. As you see in the middle photo, you pass between narrow rocks and then the next thing you know you are hiking through deep, soft, red beach sand. As Missy Lester would say, it was wicked awesome!

So as you can see, we had a great time on our trip to Arches National Park.
