Helper #1: Doll named Sparkle
Okay so Kate has struggled with controlling her bladder for several years now (5 to be more exact, after all she is now 5 years old). We finally dipped into savings and took her in for a VCUG test at Primary Children's Hospital. Her doctor has been recommending it for over a year. The cute life coach gave Kate a little doll that was dressed in a hospital gown just like her. She used the doll to explain the test and x-rays to Kate. Then Kate got to draw a face on the doll with markers. When she was done with the face she turned it over and drew wings on it's back (very creative). The test wasn't a pleasant experience for Kate, but she was a trooper (it also helped that Ed and I promised her a milk shake afterwards). In the end we paid a lot of money to have the comfort of knowing there is nothing wrong with her bladder. Yippee and RRRGGGGG!Helper #2: Potty Watch
So next step was a visit to the pediatrician. She ran another test and then decided that Kate's bladder just doesn't remember how to work properly (remember all those years of constipation, well that seems to be the issue). So we are now having to retrain the bladder. Kate is now the proud owner of a potty watch. It plays cute music and has flashing lights every 90 minutes. It was a struggle getting her to cooperate at first, but now it seems to be helping. She has now gone two whole days without an accident. This is proof that miracles can happen! :-)

Aidan has a doll like that, too, and we have the same potty watch!!! Maybe I should try using it...
I love this idea. Isn't it amazing how fun some things can make a mundane task seem?
i hate when tests say nothing is wrong! best wished with the potty training!
