We have recently had a small infestation of ants in our family room (hmm... could it possibly be due to the gold fish crumbs, I wonder). Kate loves ants and calls them her friends. I got the vacuum out so that I could suck up the little critters and Kate burst into tears. "Don't kill my friends!!! Why do you have to kill them mommy?" Being the kind hearted person that I am, I told her that she could try to scoop them up and put them outside before I vacuumed. She got down on the floor and picked them up one by one. She gave each ant a name (such as Alvin, Simmon & Theodore) and talked to them. Then she let them go free outside on the rocks. I thought it was so cute I just had to share.
